Earlier today, NHL insider Kevin Weekes, suggested that the NHL may be potentially expanding to Atlanta. Find out how this could be affecting Canadian hockey fans, specifically Nordiques fans and Winnipeg Jets fans.

Weekes Introduces Possibility Of NHL Expansion

In Weekes' tweet, he states that tomorrow there will be an announcement about development in Atlanta for a new hockey team. He ends the tweet by questioning if a team may come to Atlanta if the arena is built.

This opens up a new realm of possibilities but there are two main ones. The first of which is the NHL expanding past 32 teams and if the NHL decides to do this, they will have to heavily consider bringing a team to Quebec.

The second option Canadian hockey fans will not be a fan of. This would be the relocation of the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets currently have the smallest arena in the NHL barring the Arizona Coyotes. For comparison, the AHL's Chicago Wolves have an arena that seats over 1,000 more people.

The Jets also had difficulty selling out games consistently this past season which has led to rumors of them potentially relocating. Many fans will despise this possibility as it takes away a team from one of the most passionate fanbases in all of hockey.

With the news of Atlanta building an arena capable of housing an NHL franchise, does this spell the end of the Winnipeg Jets or does it spell the beginning of further NHL expansion to locations such as Quebec?
