For the most part, Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs has a good relationship with reporters covering his team. Sometimes, however, he's asked a question that he doesn't like, and he has no trouble letting members of the media know when he feels they've crossed a line.

Following practice this week, Matthews was asked about a conversation he and teammate Mitch Marner had with head coach Sheldon Keefe away from the main group. Matthews' response to the query from veteran reporter Mark Masters made it clear it was a private discussion.

"Mark, that's none of your business, honestly," said Matthews, with an awkward smile. "That's between us, I'll leave it at that."

This isn't the first time Matthews has clapped back following a question that annoyed him. There was this incident, when he was asked about running into a cross bar during a game.

There was also a major clash between Matthews and long-time Leafs reporter Steve Simmons. Simmons revealed that Matthews had tested positive for COVID-19 without his consent, something he and his teammates were unhappy with.
