Frustration can make people do crazy things.

Especially hockey players after losing an important game to a divisional rival in the middle of a playoff race...

In totally unrelated news, the Florida Panthers dropped a 3-1 decision to the Buffalo Sabres, forfeiting two crucial points to their divisional opponent. The win catapults the Sabres into the second Wild Card spot, as they sit tied with Detroit and Florida.

Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk was furious when the Sabres put the puck into the empty net as the final buzzer sounded. So much so, that he challenged pretty much the entire Sabres bench as they went to celebrate their win.

Tkachuk is criticized. A lot.

But one thing nobody can say about him is that he lacks passion. The guy is a firecracker who is always in the mix. You love him when he's on your team but absolutely despise him when he's not.

The Panthers - on another note - are leaving valuable points on the table. They are 4-4 in their last eight games and have allowed 3 or more goals for the fifth straight game.

With the Eastern Conference as tightly packed as it is, teams hunting a postseason berth can hardly afford to surrender points, especially to divisional opponents. Florida is also missing their captain Aleksander Barkov and Sam Bennett, so things aren't exactly pretty there.

I wonder if the NHL will have anything to say about Tkachuk challenging the other team after the final buzzer...
