On Wednesday, the International Ice Hockey Federation announced the schedule for the 2024 World Junior Championship, which is set to be held in Gothenburg (Sweden).

As usual, the tournament will begin on Boxing Day, with the round robin culminating on New Year's Eve. The quarter-finals will be played on January 2nd, semi-finals on January 4th and bronze/gold medal games on January 5th.

Canada will open their schedule on Boxing Day against Finland then face Latvia on December 27th, Sweden on December 29th and will wrap up the round robin on New Year's Eve against Germany.

As for the hosts, Sweden, they'll face Latvia on Boxing Day and will play their archrival, Finland, on New Year's Eve.

The 2023 World Juniors saw relegation for the first time since the 2020 tournament. Austria lost the best-of-three series against Latvia and were relegated to Division 1A for the 2024 World Juniors. With Austria going down, Norway won the Division 1A tournament and was promoted to the top division for the first time since the 2014 World Juniors.
