The Columbus Blue Jackets announced on Tuesday morning that defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov will be scratched for their game against New Jersey Devils for 'trade related reasons', much like we have seen with Arizona's Jakob Chychrun.

"LINEUP UPDATE: Blue Jackets D Vladislav Gavrikov will be a healthy scratch for tonight's game vs. New Jersey. He is being held out of the lineup for trade-related reasons. #CBJ" The Blue Jackets' Public Relations account said on Twitter.

Gavrikov, 27, has been mentioned in the rumour mill for well over a month now and there's a chance that the Blue Jackets could get a fairly sizable return for him, especially if you look at the David Savard and Ben Chiarot trades in recent years. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

In 52 games this season, the Yaroslavl (Russia) native has ten points (three goals, seven assists), 30 penalty minutes and is a minus-eight, while averaging 22:20 TOI per game.

Among the teams Gavrikov has been linked to are, the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
