Today's trade between the New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues has required the former to make an additional move to open up a spot on their 23-man roster.

According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the New York Rangers have placed defenceman Libor Hajek on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack.

Hajek, 25, has appeared in 16 games for the Rangers this season, recording one goal, four penalty minutes and is a plus-two. The Smrcek (Czechia) native is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season and is currently on a one-year deal with the Rangers at a cap hit of $800,000.

In other related news, Chris Johnston added that the Philadelphia Flyers have placed defenceman Linus Hogberg on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.

The 24-year-old was a fifth round pick of the Flyers in 2016 and after spending several years in Sweden, came over to North America for the 2020-21 season, but has only appeared in five games in the NHL over the last three seasons.

In 19 games for Philadelphia's AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Stockholm native had four points (one goal, three assists), eight penalty minutes and was a plus-three.
