This year's trade deadline in the National Hockey League is shaping up to be one of the biggest in terms of quality players potentially being moved. Since last Monday, two huge trades have gone down as Bo Horvat was dealt to the New York Islanders and Vladimir Tarasenko has been moved to the New York Rangers.

There are several other high-end players that are expected to be moved between now and March 3rd, among them being Timo Meier and Patrick Kane, if the latter wants to leave Chicago. Both Meier and Kane have been linked to the Vegas Golden Knights, who are in need of a top-six forward with captain Mark Stone out of the lineup for potentially the remainder of the season.
Meier, 26, is set to become a restricted free agent this summer, but has a qualifying offer of $10 million. To avoid that huge qualifying offer, the team who acquires him will likely get an extension done at a much lower AAV. In 52 games this season, the Herisau (Switzerland) native is nearly a point-per-game player, recording 51 points (30 goals, 21 assists), 21 penalty minutes and is a minus-12.
As for Patrick Kane, 34, he'll be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st for the first time in his career. A potential move could come down to the week before March 3rd as Kane continues to weigh his options. In 46 games, the Buffalo native has 35 points (nine goals, 26 assists), ten penalty minutes and is a minus-24.
