Carolina Hurricanes forward Ondrej Kase hasn't played with the team since the very first game of the 2022-23 season after suffering yet another concussion, which is suspected to be the seventh of his NHL career.

Kase resumed skating in mid-December, but in early January, the Hurricanes placed him on long-term injured reserve to open a roster spot and cap space for Max Pacioretty.

According to Czech hockey insider Jakub Koreis, Kase will reportedly leave the NHL after this season and could be signing with HC Litvinov, joining his brother David, who just recently moved to that club.

The 27-year-old had a fairly good season with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2021-22, putting up 27 points in 50 games after only appearing in three games for the Boston Bruins during the 2020-21 season.

Kase is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, as he only signed a one-year deal with the Hurricanes last summer. Any potential return or move back home to Czechia will be dependent on his health, but other than the news of him being placed on LTIR in January, the Hurricanes haven't issued any further updates on his status.
