It is the end of the line for the Vermillion County Bobcats of the SPHL. After an odd situation last Sunday where the team failed to show up for a home game and the opponent was handed a victory via forfeit, the Bobcats have now officially folded.

"Regretfully, the Bobcats have ceased operations," said owner Ellen Tully. "It is a sad day for hockey fans in Danville, but I want to personally thank them for their loyalty to the Bobcats over the past two seasons."

That loyalty was certainly tested by the Bobcats dismal record of 9-70-7 since its inception in 2021. The team also went through 10 coaches during that time, and there were rumours that players weren't receiving the salaries they were promised when signing with the team.

The build up to the team's eventual shut down included this moment where Quad City was handed a victory due to the Bobcats now showing up for their own home game.

The Bobcats have stated on Twitter that details on refunds for season ticket holders will be coming soon.
