One of the coolest parts of playing hockey is all the unique barns in which one finds him/herself.

The ingenuity of the builders of some of these rinks deserves to be recognized, as they take these seemingly innocuous looking venues and completely transform them into places of joy for those who play our great game.

This particular Saskatchewan facility is taking the hockey world by storm with one unique feature: a retractable staircase which acts as a pathway from the locker room to the ice - directly to the ice:

You just can't do stuff like this anymore. Not with OSHA sniffing around or 'safety police' who just don't like fun.

This old barn has serious character reminiscent of the Old Time Hockey we all love so much. I have to think someone is going to throw a big-time hockey tournament here in the future.

They might need to install one or two safety features over liability concerns, but who wouldn't want to take a spin on that staircase?
