Not much is going right for the Vancouver Canucks this year. The team seemed to finally do something positive for a change on Thursday, however, signing a candidate for Canuck-of-the-Season in Andrei Kuzmenko. Kuzmenko, who could have tested the free agent market and probably gotten more, signed a two-year deal worth $11 million in total in order to stay in Vancouver. Why he made that decision can be summed up in a letter from his family that was released on Twitter by Kuzmenko's agent Dan Milstein.

The letter - signed by his mother, father, sister, and childhood friend - talks about how well Kuzmenko has been treated since getting to Vancouver.

First off, to the fans of one of the most beautiful cities in the world, for their warm hospitality to our son.

To Canucks management, for creating an environment for Andrei to succeed to the best of his abilities.

To the coaching staff, for believing in our son, helping him grow professionally with the team, and for helping him make the most of his opportunity with the Vancouver Canucks.

Kuzmenko quietly improved his game year-over-year in the KHL until he was eligible to sign as a free agent in the NHL. While some players struggle with that transition, Kuzmenko has put up 21 goals and 22 assists in 47 games so far this season.
