Johnny Gaudreau is set to return to Calgary for the first time since signing a massive seven-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the off-season.

When speaking with reporters, Gaudreau said he understands if he gets a cold reception during the game and if the fans are upset with him.

"Sports is awesome," Gaudreau said. "It brings people together, and I got to play there for 10 years, nine years, and I had some great memories, and they're probably a little upset that I'm not there anymore. I get it."

He added, "They love their team, and that's why I loved playing there so much, and I loved being part of that organization for 12, 13 years," he said. "It's going to be fun going back."

The Salem (New Jersey) native is enjoying another strong season, but nothing will top his 115-point performance during the 2021-22 campaign. In 46 games, he's recorded 44 points (13 goals, 31 assists), 16 penalty minutes and is a minus-15.

Puck drop for Gaudreau's return to Calgary is set for 9:30 p.m. ET and can be viewed on Sportsnet West and One in Canada, as well as ESPN+ and Hulu in the United States.
