The Columbus Blue Jackets will be in sell-mode leading up to the National Hockey League's trade deadline on March 3rd and among the players on their roster that are garnering interest is 27-year-old defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov.

During the 32 Thoughts segement on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet insiders Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek discussed Gavrikov's situation in Columbus.

Friedman mentioned that a pair of Canadian team, the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs, are interested in Gavrikov, while also stating that the Blue Jackets are allowing teams to talk to the Russian blue liner about a contract extension. Marek went on to add that the Blue Jackets are seeking a similar return that they got in the David Savard trade a couple of years ago (first and third-round picks).

"I do think that Edmonton and Toronto are among the teams that have looked into Gavrikov. What's interesting here is that Columbus is allowing teams to speak to him." Friedman said.

Jeff Marek went on to say, "I do believe that Columbus' preference would have been to re-sign the talented defenceman. I don't think that's going to be able to happen. $2.8 million is the AAV. Just about any contending team can slid that into their payroll. I think Columbus is looking for a package along the lines of the David Savard deal, that was a first and a third, or a Ben Chiarot, that was a first +"

In 45 games this season, the Yaroslavl native has ten points (three goals, seven assists), 26 penalty minutes and is a minus-three.
