It may not be the blockbuster everyone has been waiting for, but we finally have a trade completed in the NHL.

The Detroit Red Wings announced on Wednesday that they've acquired forward Jasper Weatherby from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Kyle Criscuolo.

Weatherby, 24, was a fourth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. While he spent the majority of the 2021-22 season in the NHL, the Portland (Oregon) native has been in the American Hockey League for all of the current campaign. In 39 games for the San Jose Barracuda, he's put up six points (three goals, three assists), 39 penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.

Criscuolo, 30, re-joined the Red Wings organization for a second stint in 2020 and has been a consistent contributor for their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins. In 28 games for the Griffins this season, the Southampton (New Jersey) native has ten points (five goals, five assists), 17 penalty minutes and is a minus-13.
