The Chicago Blackhawks sit dead-last in the National Hockey League with a record of 11-26-4 through 41 games and currently have the best odds to land first overall in the 2023 draft.

There's no question that general manager Kyle Davidson would like to off-load some of his pending unrestricted free agents and none have had their names in rumour mill more than Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, in recent months.

In an interview with NBC Sports Chicago, Jonathan Toews acknowledged that change could be a good thing for both himself and the Blackhawks organization as the trade deadline approaches.

"It's still a difficult question to answer 'cause there's a part of myself that still doesn't really want to admit the situation and also wants to continue being a Blackhawk and finish my career here," Toews said.

He added, "But at the same time, there's a part of me that sees the writing on the wall and sees that this team, this organization, is trying to hit the reset button and that maybe a change for everybody is not such a bad thing, and that goes for myself as well."

Toews, 34, has spent his entire 15-year career with the Chicago Blackhawks after they drafted him third overall in 2006. The Winnipeg native has led the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cups in his time with the organization and has 876 points in 1,054 games.

There are several contending teams that would like to add a centerman with experience to their roster and Toews name is more than likely atop the list of a handful of those teams.
