Kris Letang has had a nightmare season in 2022-23. First, he suffered a stroke - his second since 2014 - which caused him to miss just over a week of game action. Which, frankly, is incredible.

Then, however, Letang took a leave of absence from the Penguins in the wake of his father's death. Letang flew home to Quebec for his father's funeral, missing Pittsburgh's last four games as a result.

Penguins correspondent Josh Yohe wrote for The Athletic that the Penguins - who were on the road for 10 straight days - made a special gesture for their grieving teammate, which shows how tight that group is.

After their game in Arizona on Sunday, the Penguins were scheduled to return home to their families before hosting the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.

"Instead, they traveled through the middle of the night to Montreal, arriving at 4 a.m. Then, they slept for a brief period of time before attending the funeral of Claude Fouquet, father of Kris Letang," Yohe writes.

Yohe also included that head coach Mike Sullivan not only supported the decision to divert the team's travel arrangements, but he led the charge to do so upon meeting with leaders on the team.

This episode illustrates the culture that the Penguins have cultivated in the Sidney Crosby-era. Taking care of teammates takes priority over getting rest; much needed rest after a 10-day road trip, mind you.

That is going above and beyond for your friend and teammate. Stick taps for the Penguins for this tremendous display of support for their comrade.

All the best to Kris Letang and his family through their grieving period.
