The NHL Situation Room apparently took notice of Toronto goaltender Matt Murray fiddling with his net on Sunday night, and it appears as though the league intends to address the issue as a whole, not just Murray.

According to Michael Russo - Minnesota Wild correspondent for The Athletic - NHL General Managers will discuss the issue during their annual round of meetings in March.

"It was noticed in the Situation Room last night that Murray was wiggling the net during TV timeout. League is actually testing nets coming up but also clipping goalies taking nets off moorings and bringing examples to GM's Meeting in March. Murray's net came off twice last night."

The incident in question:

Although Murray is not the only goalie suspected of deliberately taking his net off the moorings, he has received the most attention for it.

Back in November, Murray was called out by Minnesota Wild head coach Dean Evason for purposefully dislodging his net while the Wild held offensive zone possession.

Given that Murray plays in Toronto - the NHL's single largest market by volume - it's only natural that he attracts extra criticism.

Again, however, the NHL has noticed a larger issue across the league, and they are evidently taking it seriously with the intention of discussing it in a formal setting.
