The Boston Bruins-Pittsburgh Penguins Winter Classic is today, and the vibes are immaculate. Fans singing Sweet Caroline, Bruins legends in the house, and two strong teams battling it out. What a way to break in the new year, even if it's a day late.

One bit of bad vibes took over the Boston venue, however, when forwards David Krejci and Brad Marchand were called offsides on a clean 2-on-1 rush, which could have netted the game's first goal. Take a look:

The Penguins scored shortly after thanks to Kasperi Kapanen, which makes this even worse. Boston's sports fans aren't known for their timid support, so you better believe they let the officials hear it in the aftermath.

The questions are:

1) why isn't the linesman on the blue line?
2) with the advent of challenge reviews, why not simply let the play develop and review after?

Since this play was so close, it seems that it would be prudent to allow the play to continue with a review following up, should it have been necessary.
