After weeks of rumours, it's official. The National Hockey League will be heading to the Pacific Northwest for the 2024 Winter Classic.

Just before the start of this year's event, the National Hockey League announced that the 2024 Winter Classic will be hosted by the Seattle Kraken at T-Mobile Park, home of the MLB's Seattle Mariners.

Instead of playing their geographical rival, the Vancouver Canucks, the NHL decided to make this a game featuring the two most recent expansion franchises as Seattle's opponent for the game will be the Vegas Golden Knights.

The game will also return to its traditional date, January 1st for the 2024 event. This year's game is being played on January 2nd because New Year's Day fell on a Sunday and the NHL didn't want to compete for viewership ratings with the NFL.
