Prior to puck drop on Tuesday night's game, the Detroit Red Wings honoured veteran forward David Perron after he played in his 1000th career NHL game on Saturday against Dallas.

The 34-year-old was given a lengthy video tribute which featured several of his former teammates including Kris Letang, Marc-Andre Fleury, Jaden Schwartz, among others. Perron was also given the customary silver stick from Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman.

Perron entered the NHL in 2007 after being selected 26th overall by the St. Louis Blues in that year's draft. After his six seasons in St. Louis, he went on to play for Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Anaheim, Vegas and now, Detroit. He also returned to St. Louis on two separate occasions, most recently spending the past four seasons there before leaving in free agency this past summer.
