For the first time since stepping down as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets last December, Paul Maurice returned to his old stomping grounds, now as bench boss of the Florida Panthers.

The game didn't go as Maurice would've wanted, as the Jets came away with a 5-2 win thanks to a pair of goals by Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele, the latter of whom told reporters that he was 'pretty happy' to beat his former coach.

"I'm not going to lie, that was a good win in my books," Scheifele said. "Pretty happy with that one. At the end of the day, we've moved on. We're a different team this year than we were last year. It's been exciting for a lot of us. You see the rejuvenated faces in this room."

The 29-year-old Scheifele has had a solid season thus far for the Jets, recording 21 points (15 goals, six assists), 12 penalty minutes and has an even-rating.

Scheifele and the Jets will look to extend their winning streak to three when they take on the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night.
