Dallas Stars' forward Mason Marchment took exception to a hit thrown by Anaheim Ducks' defenseman Simon Benoit on Stars' rookie Wyatt Johnston. Following the hit, a scrum ensued where Marchment (6'4'' 210lbs) and Benoit (6'3'' 203lbs) squared off.

Both players landed some punches in this heavyweight tilt, and both are known for their rugged, hard-nosed playing style. Marchment only has three NHL fights in his career, two of which came this season (one against Benoit tonight, and the other against Matthew Tkachuk). Benoit has four career fights in the NHL against some notable heavyweights (Marchment, Zach Kassian, Tom Wilson, and Ross Johnson).
These teams are not known rivals, but if the first period is any indicator, we may be in store for some big hits and maybe another fight tonight or in future matchups.
