Former Maple Leafs defenceman handed multi-game suspension in Swedish Hockey League

Following a dangerous knee-on-knee incident on Saturday in a game between Linkoping and Frolunda HC, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association has announced supplemental discipline for former Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Andreas Borgman.

The Swedish Ice Hockey Association's Disciplinary Board have suspended Borgman for four games and fined him 34,375 SEK ($4,416.14 CAD).

Borgman was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for kneeing Linkoping HC forward Broc Little. Little was forced to leave the game and did not return.

"The tackle is delivered with force, is careless and carries a high risk of injury," the Swedish Ice Hockey Association's Disciplinary Board said.

The 27-year-old Borgman will be eligible to return to Frolunda HC's lineup on December 10th when they take on Farjestad BK.
