According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Buffalo Sabres have placed forward Riley Sheahan on waivers for the purpose of an AHL assignment.
The 30-year-old began the season on injured reserve, but was removed from it on October 18th and has been a healthy scratch for their last six games. Sheahan signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sabres in August, which marks his second stint with the team after spending the COVID-shortened 2021 season with them.
Sheahan, a native of St. Catherines (Ontario), spent the majority of the 2021-22 season in the NHL with the Seattle Kraken. In 69 games, Sheahan put up 17 points (four goals, 13 assists), two penalty minutes and is a plus-six.
If Sheahan clears waivers on Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET, he'll be assigned to the Rochester Americans of the AHL.
