It's not very often we see goalie fights any longer, and even when we do, they are rarely as good as this. Two netminders went at it at centre ice during a game in a Hungarian league recently. According to Sport24.ru, it was 3-0 for Budapest against a team from Miskolc, when goaltender Janis Voris said he wanted to mix things up before the third period to get things going for the losing side.
"The opposing goalie drove past me. He was playing well, so I wanted to tease him - I pushed him a little with my shoulder. There was no doubt in my mind that I had to fight. For me it was my first experience like that, but my opponent got hurt more."
"He hit me in the eye once, but it was a small thing. I hit him in the head a few times. I wanted to give the team some emotions. In the third period a completely different team came out on the ice - the guys were flying, there were chances to even the score. The coach praised me and added that it was something a defenseman had to do, not a goalie. He said it showed my character and desire to fight for the win," the 22-year-old Latvian boasted. - Sport24.ru
