During their shutout over Washington the other night, Dmitry Orlov got away with a clear-cut elbow to the face of Mason Marchment. Somehow, the officials missed it, but that didn't make it any less egregious.

Considering Michael Rasmussen was suspended two games for high-sticking, one might think that these shots to the head and/or face would hold a higher priority. Alas - because it is the NHL - no.

Marchment stayed in the game and was not injured, so no one is calling for Orlov to be suspended. Still, if the NHL was legitimately concerned about player safety, stuff like this would be monitored a little heavier.
Pete DeBoer was not happy about it and rightfully so. Even though they ended up winning, in the moment that is a gross miscarriage of hockey justice. I'd be pretty pissed too.
