When the Montreal Canadiens took to the ice at the Bell Centre for their morning skate on Saturday, there was one notable name missing, that being rookie forward Juraj Slafkovsky.
Shortly after it was reported that Slafkovsky was not on the ice, the Canadiens tweeted that the 18-year-old is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. It's unclear if this injury is connected to the slight hit to the head he took from Arizona Coyotes defenceman Josh Brown on Thursday night.
Slafkovsky has appeared in all five of Montreal's games to date and has shown improvement in each one as he continues to adjust to playing in North America. In those five games, Slafkovsky has one goal, two penalty minutes and an even-rating.
The Slafkovsky-less Canadiens will take on the Dallas Stars on Hockey Night in Canada tonight. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET on CityTV, Sportsnet East and TVA Sports.
Juraj Slafkovsky a subi une blessure au haut du corps. Il est évalué au jour le jour.
