The Vancouver Canucks are off to a very poor start to the 2022-23 season. In their first three games, they have an 0-3-0 record and have allowed 14 goals against.

In each of those three games versus the Oilers, Flyers and on Monday against the Washington Capitals, the Canucks have given up a multi-goal lead. On Monday, things went from bad to worse.

Going into the third period, Vancouver had a 4-2 lead, but the Capitals, led by Alexander Ovechkin's four-point night, came from behind and scored four goals in the final frame to win the game by a score of 6-4.

After the game, Canucks Head Coach Bruce Boudreau was not happy about his team's effort in the third period, calling them 'mentally weak'.

"I think right now, mentally weak would be a good assessment. I think, when you're on a roll, you're waiting for good things to happen and when you're in something like this, you're waiting for something bad to happen. I mean, that's the natural portion of it." Boudreau said.

The Canucks will look to rebound quickly as they're back in action on Tuesday night in Columbus. Their season-opening five-game road trip will come to an end on Thursday against Minnesota, before they return to Rogers Arena on Saturday night for their home opener against the Buffalo Sabres.
