Hockey is incredible, but its' deep intertwining with life often accompanies our beloved sport with tragedy. What makes the hockey community so great is that moments of strife always bring us together rather than apart.

Ben Stelter stole the hearts of millions of people last year, when his dad -- Mike -- started sharing Ben's journey as the youngster battled brain cancer with a smile seemingly always on his face. Ben became an honorary Oiler last season, spending quality time with the team and shouting his patented, 'Play La Bamba Baby.'

Before their season opener, the Oilers held a moment for little Ben, offering a tribute video before puck drop:

Connor McDavid cruised to a four-point performance, breaking the 700-point mark in just 488 games; just the seventh player ever to reach the mark in under 500 games -- is that good? After the game, the Oilers' captain dedicated the win to Ben, saying he thinks about Ben all the time.

While the world lost a special person, Ben's impact on the hockey community was deep and long-lasting; we will not forget about his bubbly personality any time soon.
