The Seattle Kraken have been teasing the reveal of their first official mascot, and the internet has wasted precisely zero time carving them to bits over it.

Tonight, they finally unveiled Buoy the Troll...

So the elephant in the room: this seemingly makes no sense and in no way feels related to the Kraken. As such, the internet remains undefeated:

The Kraken reportedly inspired Buoy to be the nephew of the legendary Fremont Troll, which lives beneath the Aurora Bridge. The club also offered some of the process behind the design:

Buoy's hair is a nod to hockey flow and the waves of Puget Sound. You'll notice there is a removable tooth just like a hockey player, an anchor earring for our secondary mark and then a mysterious tentacle indicating an encounter with the Kraken.

That seems pretty incoherent and sloppy to me, but I am not a design aficionado, so maybe I just have a boneheaded view on the subject.

Ultimately, I do not think this is a great idea, but perhaps it will grow on us over time. One man, unfortunately, appears to have lost it all.
