The Anaheim Ducks announced on Saturday afternoon that they've agreed to terms on a one-year, one-way contract with defenceman Nathan Beaulieu. According to Eric Stephens of The Athletic, the contract is worth $850,000.

Beaulieu, 29, became an unrestricted free agent this summer and opted to sign a professional try-out contract (PTO) with the Ducks back on September 10th. So far, his play during the pre-season has been fairly solid, with the former first rounder of the Montreal Canadiens scoring a goal last night against the Sharks.

He'll be competing for a spot on the Ducks' bottom pair alongside Josh Mahura, Simon Benoit and Urho Vaakanainen, the latter of whom was injured in Friday's tilt against San Jose and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation

The Strathroy (Ontario) native spent the 2021-22 season with the Winnipeg Jets, but his year ended prematurely as he was placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury in early March. He was then traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins a couple of weeks later, but didn't appear in any games for them.

In 24 games for the Jets last season, Beaulieu put up four assists, 25 penalty minutes and was a minus-seven.
