New York Islanders General Manager Lou Lamoriello spoke with the media on Monday with training camp set to open in a matter of days.

The Isles GM told reporters that unrestricted free agent goaltender Cory Schneider is expected to return to the organization and will be in the American Hockey League with the Bridgeport Islanders. He will likely form a tandem with 22-year-old Jakub Skarek.

Schneider, 36, spent the majority of the 2021-22 season in the AHL with Bridgeport. In 30 games, the Marblehead (Massachusetts) native had a 14-11-4 record, along with a 2.71 GAA, a .921 save percentage and one shutout.

He also appeared in one game for New York, earning a 4-3 win over his former club, the New Jersey Devils, on April 3rd.

It's unclear if Schneider will sign a PTO in the coming days or if he'll sign an AHL deal with Bridgeport.
