Ethan Bear has been the subject of plenty of trade rumors during his young career. He was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes last summer by the Edmonton Oilers after plenty of trade speculation. Now he may be seeing himself in the same boat.

The Hurricanes bolstered their blue line this offseason with the additions of Brent Burns and Dylan Coghlan, and Bear could now be exploitable for the right price. One team that is interested in acquiring another right-handed defenseman is the Vancouver Canucks.

Their right-side is a bit of a disaster, consisting of Luke Schenn, Tyler Myers, and Tucker Poolman, all of which are not of top-pairing quality. As of right now, the top-pairing would be Schenn and superstar Quinn Hughes. Schenn is not a terrible defenseman, but he is no doubt not a top pairing kind of player.

Ethan Bear could flourish in an expanded role, especially if he was given the chance to play next to Hughes. It seems that he would likely be an upgrade over any of the other three right-handed defensemen the team has, so maybe taking a shot at acquiring the 25-year-old would be beneficial for this season.
