Pittsburgh Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby sat down with 32 Thoughts' Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek to discuss the upcoming season at the NHL Media Tour in Las Vegas this weekend. One of the topics up for discussion was how long Crosby will continue playing in the NHL.

Crosby, who turned 35 in August, has three years remaining on his deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

When asked how long he planned on playing, Crosby said, "I'm thinking about three more years and then seeing what happens from there. I know it doesn't do me any good to look past that. I know I want to continue to play high level."

Crosby continues to play at a high level well into his 30s. Last season, he put up 31 goals and 52 assists for 84 points in just 69 games. He is still more than a point-per-game player. There is no question he was the face of the league for more than a decade, and as he begins to get older, that baton has most certainly been passed to guys like Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews.

Crosby has always been a thoughtful, albeit quiet guy.

He continued on about pondering about his post-career initiatives saying, "Your mind tends to go there as you get older, for sure. You understand the situation. And it's a really difficult position because as an athlete, you want to be in the moment. You don't necessarily think too far ahead, but reality is, that tends to happen a little more as you get older."

[At least] three more years of Sidney Crosby in Pittsburgh. He also expressed how happy he was when teammates Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin signed extensions in the off season, "It's pretty obvious how I feel. I mean, it's not like I have to declare that. I think it's pretty clear how I feel about those guys."

Crosby, Letang, and Malkin are set to begin their 17th season as teammates in just under one month - the most among any trio in the NHL.
