Brandt Clarke has been snubbed by Canada's World Junior team twice now, and I think it is time we start asking questions about that. Every time this kid steps on the ice, magic happens. Clarke was drafted eighth overall by Los Angeles in 2021 and has scored 97 points in 112 OHL games, yet twice he was deemed not good enough for Team Canada.

Think he has a chip on his shoulder?

What a set of mitts on him, as he smoothy slides the game-winner five-hole. He will absolutely earn some NHL consideration this season, the only question is 'how much?'

Clarke is a star in the waiting, and he headlines a string of top-notch prospects in the Kings pipeline. L.A. still has 2020 second-overall pick Quinton Byfield, Alex Turcotte and a handful of others primed for a promotion.

TopDownHockey and their model are seriously bullish on Brandt Clarke and have high projections for the young defenseman.

What a goal, and what celebration from Clarke. Hopefully -- for Kings fans -- he gets himself an NHL chance and keeps it, and then follows that up with some more of the above. Once he gets there, he will learn directly from one of the best to do it over the past decade in Drew Doughty.

Huge W for the Kings' organization.
