Former 1st round NHL draft pick Kyle Beach is going behind the bench for the 2022-23 season. Not having played professional hockey since the 2020-21 season when he was in Germany, Beach has reportedly taken a position with the Trinity Western University's men's team in B.C. has an assistant coach.

Once a highly touted prospect, Beach never played in the NHL. In 2021, he went public with accusations that he was sexually assaulted by a member of the Chicago Blackhawks coaching staff in 2010, when the Hawks won the Stanley Cup. Beach was a "Black Ace" with the team, someone who would be called on to play if injuries occurred to the regular roster. An investigation into the allegations noted that Beach brought them forward to the team, but Blackhawks management decided to wait until the playoffs were over to address them. Five days after winning the Cup, video coach Brad Alrich was given the opportunity to resign from the team, or be fired if Beach's allegations were determined to be true. Aldrich chose to resign. He would be allowed to participate in celebrations with the team. Aldrich eventually moved on to Michigan, where he was convicted of sexually assaulting a high school hockey player.

Beach received an outpouring of support from fellow players and fans alike. I a very emotional interview with TSN, Beach presented his story and described the fall out from coming forward with allegations. It's great to see that he can continue to be involved in the game that he loves.
