Andrae required 30 stiches to fix the gash. He will not play in the season opener over the weekend and may miss a couple of weeks of action.

"He jumped in front of me and then I didn't see the shot. It just clicked and I collapsed," Andrae told AftonBladet.

With the help of his teammates, he was taken back to the dressing room, and then transported to hospital.

"I was really groggy, but my head seems to have recovered and I remember everything. There was a lot of blood, but I didn't have time to think much," he said.

Andrae cannot eat solid foods for a while.

"Liquid food, until it heals together. I can't eat or yawn, because then the stitches tighten."

Andrae was drafted in the 2nd round (54th overall) by the Flyers in 2020. He is noted as a hard-working defenceman who has excellent vision and great playmaking skills.
