Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill announced today that retired goalie Ben Bishop has been hired as a player development coordinator, and he is expected to mentor goalie Jake Oettinger, among other duties.

Bishop's career ended due to a knee injury, having last played for the Stars in 2020. The 35-year old was, at one point, among the NHL's top netminders, and he was a Vezina Trophy finalist in 2019, beat out by Andrei Vasilevskiy.

All said and done, in 413 NHL starts Bishop posted a 2.32 GAA and a .926 SV%, with a record of 222-128-36 for five different clubs. The Stars' future is looking as bright as ever, with studs Jason Robertson, Miro Heiskanen and Jake Oettinger leading the charge and prospects Logan Stankoven and Wyatt Johnston on their way up. This is a great time to buy stock in the Dallas Stars.
