The Vancouver Giants, a junior team in the Western Hockey League, announced on Saturday they have hired three-time Stanley Cup champion Brent Seabrook in a coaching development role.

Last season, Seabrook appeared for a few games behind the Giants bench while head coach Michael Dyck was away at the World Juniors with Team Canada.

"I'm excited to rejoin the Giants after getting involved last season," Seabrook said. "I look forward to sharing my experiences with the players and helping develop them as players, and as individuals within the Giants organization."

Seabrook, 37, was forced to retire due to injuries he sustained later in his career, but he remains under contract to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He spent his entire fifteen-year career in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015.

In 1,114 career games, the Richmond native had 464 points (103 goals, 361 assists), 661 penalty minutes and was a plus-111. Seabrook went on to add 59 points in 123 career games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
