By this point in the summer, we all need hockey-specific hot-button debates to partake in, as the majority of transactions have been made and only a few minor questions need answering. One debate that tends to get feisty is the uniform discussion. I think it's fair to say that hockey uni's are the best in sports; the creativity, the tradition, all of the things that people love about sports jerseys, hockey jerseys have them. The debate within the debate is where things get spicy.

Freelance NHL analyst, JFresh, has conducted a poll the last two summers ranking the NHL's 32 uniforms worst-to-best. For the second straight summer, the Anaheim Ducks were voted the NHL's worst uniform. Some of the iconic jerseys -- Montreal, Detroit, etc-- earned a ton of love, and the top jersey in the poll was pretty shocking. Nevertheless, let's go over the results:

32. Anaheim Ducks
31. Vegas Golden Knights
30. Washington Capitals
29. Carolina Hurricanes
28. Nashville Predators
27. Dallas Stars
26. Los Angeles Kings
25. Columbus Blue Jackets
24. Tampa Bay Lightning
23. Florida Panthers
22. Philadelphia Flyers
21. Winnipeg Jets
20. New Jersey Devils
19. New York Islanders
18. Vancouver Canucks
17. San Jose Sharks
16. Chicago Blackhawks
15. St. Louis Blues
14. Minnesota Wild
13. Toronto Maple Leafs
12. Ottawa Senators
11. Edmonton Oilers
10. Colorado Avalanche
9. New York Rangers
8. Boston Bruins
7. Pittsburgh Penguins
6. Detroit Red Wings
5. Seattle Kraken
4. Buffalo Sabres
3. Montreal Canadiens
2. Arizona Coyotes
1. Calgary Flames

The Flames being rated #1 was a shock, at least to me. I do very much like those jerseys, and I think they are a sure-fire top-7. But I was surprised the Notes' Kachina jersey or Montreal's iconic sweaters did not assume the #1 spot. Somewhat unsurprising is the hate the Ducks' sweaters receive. They aren't anything spectacular, but worst in the league? I don't know about that. Perhaps if they return to the OG Mighty Ducks logo with a their orange sweater, they can restore some of the prestige they initially earned themselves.

I also think hockey fans underrate the Kings' sweaters, those black, silver and white threads are slick. Same deal with the Carolina Hurricanes' jerseys. Their kits are fresh, and they have arguably the most 'on-brand' uniforms in the NHL.

Teams like the Washington Capitals, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Philadelphia Flyers are in serious need of a rebrand, in my opinion, as their concepts have simply fallen prey to Father Time. I think the Predators, Stars and the Golden Knights' gaudy concepts earn undue criticism. All three of those threads fit their respective team's identity, so the disrespect is lost on me.

Between the Flames taking the #1 ranking and the Golden Knights falling so low in the rankings, I was generally very surprised by this poll. As mentioned, threads like Montreal's iconic bleu, blanc et rouge and the Kraken's deep blue rank appropriately. That said, these are polls, so one person's thoughts generally don't matter.
