I'm sure many professional hockey players will tell you that, sometimes, nothing seems to go right, no matter how hard you try. During a KHL game on Sunday, the final game of the TANACO Cup preseason tournament, not only did Yaroslavl defea Ufa 4-1, but Ufa's captain scored an awful own-goal from behind his own net.

Grigori Panin was trying to make a simple back-handed pass from behind his own goaltender when he accidentally shot the puck into the back of the goalie's leg. Panin could tell what happened immediately, and just looked up to the sky as if to say "are you kidding me?"

Panin, 36, is a veteran and well-known player in the KHL. He's been there his entire professional career, with Ufa Salavat Yulayev being his third team in the league. The defenseman was never drafted in the NHL.
