San Jose Hockey Now was the first to catch the additions. GM Mike Grier has been quite active in his short time at the helm of the Sharks' organization, between the Entry Draft, free agency, and hiring a whole new coaching staff in David Quinn.

It is a known fact that San Jose prefers staffing people who have familiarity with the organization. Tommy Wingels played 337 games over six seasons and an additional 111 between the Senators, Blackhawks and Bruins. 34-years old, Wingels said on his time in San Jose:

"Everything about my time in San Jose will be the pinnacle and the highlight of my career. It was such a special time. It's something my wife and I talk about all the time. We miss it.»

Sbisa, on the other hand, goes to San Jose from the Anaheim Ducks organization, after the Sharks hired Todd Marchant to lead their player development staff. Sbisa worked directly under Marchant in Anaheim, so there is familiarity there.

According to Hockey Prospecting, San Jose has the fifth-highest rated prospect system, including the highest-rated goaltending prospect pool. Players like William Eklund, Thomas Bordeleau, and G Strauss Mann highlight their list of prospects. With a seriously talented grouping of youngsters soon to ascend to the NHL, the emphasis for these Sharks is on development. Hence, the several additions to San Jose's player development department.
