"It's possible we'll trade up, it's possible we'll trade out. All possibilities are open," Hughes said.

He added, "I think there's a stronger chance we'll move up with our second pick in the first round than there is we'll trade the first pick."

To no one's surprise, Hughes also revealed that the Canadiens down to three names to potentially use the first overall selection. Those players being Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovsky and Logan Cooley.

With fourteen picks in the upcoming draft, including first and 26th overall in the first round, as well as two in the second and three in the third round, Kent Hughes will be a busy man over the next number of days. Not only will he have draft capital to deal, but names like Jeff Petry, Josh Anderson and Christian Dvorak are drawing interest from teams around the National Hockey League.

The first round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, with rounds two through seven getting underway on Friday morning. Viewers in Canada can watch both days of the draft on Sportsnet, while those in the United States can watch on ESPN.
