On the 'Donnie & Dhali' podcast this week, CHEK TV reporter Rick Dhaliwal mentioned that the Vancouver Canucks may be looking to move on from goaltender Michael DiPietro. The emergence of Latvian goaltender Artur Silovs and his recent success has likely made DiPietro expendable.

Dhaliwal also said that the Montreal Canadiens may have interest in the 23-year-old netminder.

"Mike DiPietro, it's time for a change. He needs a fresh start, he's got to get out of here. He's falling behind Arturs Silovs," Dhaliwal said. "Someone told me this morning the Habs may have interest. I think the Canucks are hopefully going to get him moved by next week."

The Windsor (Ontario) native was drafted by the Canucks in the third round in 2017. DiPietro has only appeared in three games in the NHL with Vancouver since 2019, when he turned pro.

In 34 games for Vancouver's AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, DiPietro had a record of 15-13-4 with a 2.95 GAA, and a .901 save percentage.
