On Monday, it was reported by Nick Alberga that Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson was open to being traded and even informed management of that.

In an interview with Eric Stephens of The Athletic, Gibson set the record straight and said those trade rumours are false, adding that he is excited to see what the team has in store for their off-season moves.

"All of the rumors that I got in a call from (agent) Kurt (Overhardt) yesterday are false because I haven't had a conversation with anybody there," Gibson said. "None of that is true."

He went on to add, "When I signed my extension in Anaheim however many years ago, I said I'd be honored to play in the same city and be a part of the same organization my whole career. I still have all my intentions on doing that."

The 28-year-old didn't have an entirely great year, putting up a record of 18-26-11 in 56 games along with a 3.19 GAA, a .904 save percentage and one shutout.

"I think that's the exciting part," Gibson said. "We can go back to saying all the moves that were made last season and all that, but it opened up a lot of money into cap space. It opened up draft picks and opportunities to help make our team better this offseason. You ask anybody on the team, they're excited to see what's going to happen. See, hopefully, how our team gets better and add some pieces and see where that goes."

This will certainly be a story to watch over next few weeks leading into the draft. Although Gibson wants to remain in Anaheim, the Ducks could receive a pretty big haul in return to aid with their rebuild.

In terms of goaltending depth if they were to move on from Gibson, Lukas Dostal is waiting in the wings for his opportunity to take the crease in Anaheim as he will likely be the next true starter for the Ducks.

The first big decision this off-season for new general manager Pat Verbeek will be selecting tenth overall in the first round on July 7th with several high-end prospects available to him.
