According to CapFriendly, the Detroit Red Wings have agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000 with 2022 World Championship MVP and top goaltender Jussi Olkinuora. He'll earn $750,000 at the NHL level, $375,000 at the AHL level with $425,000 of the contract guaranteed.

Just before the World Championship began, Olkinuora agreed to a contract with HC Biel in Switzerland's National League. There must have been an NHL-out clause in his contract if he was offered a deal in the NHL that he was going to accept. An NHL-out clause is fairly common in contracts in Europe.

Olkinuora, 31, took the hockey world by storm at the 2022 World Championship on home ice in Finland. In eight games, he had an 8-0-0-0 record with a 1.11 GAA, a .948 save percentage and four shutouts, leading his nation to the gold medal.

The Helsinki native spent the 2021-22 season in the KHL with Metallurg Magnitogorsk where he had a 20-10-2 record in 36 games, along with a 2.45 GAA, a .917 save percentage and three shutouts.
