It would appear that the Ducks are interested in shopping goaltender John Gibson this offseason. The Ducks are likely headed towards a slight re-tooling under newly appointed GM Pat Verbeek, so it would be a wise move to shop their prized goalie. Especially given the number of teams who need one. That ought to propel a bidding war over Gibson, which could net Anaheim considerable assets.

As Alberga suggests, Gibson appears willing to consider a trade. His modified No-Trade Clause (10 team NTC) gives him a certain degree of control over his ultimate destination. However, reports indicate that Gibson might be worn out playing in Anaheim & interested in a fresh start with a new team.

Possible landing spots for Gibson include Edmonton, Colorado, New Jersey, Pittsburgh & Vegas. The Pittsburgh native hasn't posted great numbers in a few seasons, measured both in conventional statistics nor analytically.

Gibson's $6.4 million cap hit, therefore, may divert suitors' attentions elsewhere. However, if I'm a GM whose team needs a goalie--cough, Ken Holland; cough, Tom Fitzgerald--I'm finding a way to secure a top goaltender.
