The Vancouver Canucks announced on Monday that they've agreed to terms on a two-year, entry-level contract with Swedish defenceman Filip Johansson.

Johansson, 22, was originally selected by the Minnesota Wild in the first round, 24th overall, in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He ultimately didn't sign with the club and with the Wild not offering him a contract, he became an unrestricted free agent on June 1st.

"Filip plays a solid defensive game and has shown consistent improvement over the past three seasons." said Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin. "He will continue to develop his game in Sweden with Frölunda next season, but we look forward to welcoming him to Vancouver for Development Camp at UBC next month."

The Vasteras native appeared in 47 games this season for Frolunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League where he had eleven points (three goals, eight assists), eight penalty minutes and was a plus-five.
