The Toronto Maple Leafs will likely be looking for a new goaltender with Jack Campbell to test free agency. According to TSN's Chris Johnston, a reunion between Kyle Dubas and a former Soo Greyhound junior player may be in order.

This is where Matt Murray comes into play. Of course, a lot would need to happen in order to get him to Toronto, but it is actually quite possible. It seems likely that the Senators would have to retain 50% of his $6.25 million cap hit, and then Petr Mrazek would go the other way. This would actually save the Leafs $675,000, but the Sens do have two goalies that played well last season in Anton Forsberg and Filip Gustavsson.

This could mean that the team would rather release Murray. In this case, the Leafs could then sign Murray to a much cheaper contract, maybe around $1.5 million per year. This would also give Dubas a little more room to go after Campbell to give the team a one-two punch of Campbell and Murray.

Murray has had a lot of injuries over the past three seasons along with sub-par numbers including a 35-36-8 record, .898 SV%, and a GAA above 3.00. The Maple Leafs could take a shot on him to be their backup, and possibly he could regain the form that helped him and the Pittsburgh Penguins win two Stanley Cups.
