After spending parts of the last fifteen seasons in the National Hockey League, pending unrestricted free agent defenceman Anton Stralman may be heading home to Sweden if he doesn't receive an offer in North America.

If Stralman decides to return to Sweden, he likely will sign with HV71 in the SHL. HV71 General Manager Kent "Nubben" Norberg has held discussions with Stralman and his agent recently to express their interest. The 36-year-old went on to say that whether he's playing in North America or Sweden, it will be his last season of professional hockey.

Note: the following is translated from Swedish.

"Whether it then means gambling or just retiring, that option also exists, I do not know today. What we have decided on is that if there is another year over here, it will be my last." Stralman said.

He added, "I have had some contact with "Nubben", but nothing serious in that way. He realized quite quickly that you can drive to Jönköping in an hour from Skövde. He was snooping a bit, it has not been more serious than that."

Stralman, a native of Tibro (Sweden), spent the 2021-22 campaign with the Arizona Coyotes following a trade from Florida last July. In 74 games, he recorded 23 points (eight goals, fifteen assists), twelve penalty minutes and was a minus-sixteen.

HV71 General Manager Kent "Nubben" Norberg says he's familiar with Stralman from his time with Timra IK back in 2006/07.

"Anton came to Timrå as a 19-year-old and is one of my favorites, both as a player and as a person. If he does not intend to continue "over there", I am interested in taking him to HV71, answer yes." Norberg said.
